It is natural to feel afraid while living alone in an unfamiliar country. Daegu Catholic University places the highest priority on your safety and provides the following guidance to help support your emotional well-being.
1. Maintain Calm in Your Daily Life Rather Than Excessive Anxiety
- We hope that recent news and social media reports will not cause you excessive fear or anxiety in your everyday life.
- The University campus and surrounding areas are safely managed. Please continue your university life as usual by focusing on your studies and staying connected with your friends.
2. Everyday Safety Precautions (Preventive Safety Management)
- Be cautious when traveling at night: Please avoid traveling alone late at night or in the early morning whenever possible. Travel with a trusted friend or colleague.
- Share your plans: When visiting an unfamiliar place or meeting someone you do not know well, inform at least two trusted people of your destination and expected return time in advance.
- Trust your instincts: If you feel uneasy or sense a potential danger in an unfamiliar place or when interacting with an unfamiliar person, leave the situation immediately and ask for help.
3. Free Psychological Counseling Services for Your Well-Being
- If you are experiencing emotional difficulties due to the incident, personal concerns, or unspoken conflicts in your relationships, please do not face them alone. You are always welcome to seek support from the University's professional counseling services. Free multilingual counseling is available, and all counseling sessions are kept strictly confidential.
- Counseling topics: Anxiety and depression, adjustment to university life, interpersonal conflicts, and other psychological stress.
- How to apply: Visit the International Student Support Team at the Office of International Affairs or apply by email to the staff member in charge ( kli@cu.ac.kr ).
